A new spot for Asian flavors has opened its doors in a growing shopping development near northeast Columbia.

Tokyo Grill, which has a number of Japanese restaurants across the Midlands and South Carolina, recently debuted a new eatery at 10508 Two Notch Road in Elgin, SC. That’s in the new Pontiac Towne Center shopping complex that is anchored by a Food Lion supermarket.

The new Elgin Tokyo Grill has recently had a banner on the front of its space touting that it is “now open.” It also is listed as open on Google and on the Tokyo Grill website. Hours for the restaurant, per its website, are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Tokyo Grill is a familiar name in the Midlands, with more than a dozen locations across the region. The restaurants are known for quick service meals with a Japanese flair, including hibachi chicken, teriyaki chicken, hibachi jumbo shrimp, fried rice, sushi rolls, gyoza and more.

Pontiac Towne Center is a burgeoning development in the Elgin area. Aside from the aforementioned Food Lion that opened earlier this year, the shopping center has a number of spaces set to be developed for more businesses. Among others, there is a Subway restaurant planned for the development, as well as an Eggs Up Grill restaurant.

Also, Pontiac Towne Center recently welcomed a new Bowers Ace Hardware, which had a grand opening on June 13.

The new shopping center is in a busy, growing area at the corner of Two Notch and Spears Creek Church roads. More than 24,000 cars per day traverse that section of Two Notch Road (up from 22,000 per day in 2024), according state Department of Transportation data, with more than 15,800 cars per day (up from 10,000 per day in 2024) traveling down Spears Creek Church Road nearby.
