Penn State running back transfer commits to South Carolina
South Carolina football is adding its second running back from the transfer portal from the Big Ten Conference.
Penn State’s Jabree Coleman committed Sunday to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks, On3 reported. Coleman joins Ohio State’s Sam Williams-Dixon as backs the Gamecocks added during the transfer portal.
Coleman is the program’s 17th overall transfer portal addition. He follows Penn State running backs coach Stan Drayton, who was hired by the Gamecocks last month.
The decision means USC’s current running backs room will consists of Coleman, Williams-Dixon, soon-to-be redshirt juniors Isaiah Augustave and Jawarn Howell, as well as redshirt sophomore Matthew Fuller.
Coleman didn’t appear in any games this season for the Nittany Lions and will have four years of eligibility.
He was a four-star prospect in the Class of 2025 out of Imhotep Charter in Pennsylvania, where he had three straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
As a senior, rushed for 1,135 yards and 15 touchdowns, while adding 13 receptions for 122 yards and one touchdown. In his junior season, he recorded 1,610 rushing yards, 28 rushing touchdowns, eight receptions for 218 receiving yards, two receiving scores and a return touchdown.
